Frequently asked questions
Is the redaction permanent?
The text is permanently removed using PyMuPDF's redaction engine. Selecting, copying, or inspecting the file reveals nothing; the content is gone, not just hidden.
Does it redact all occurrences?
Every match across all pages is redacted in a single pass. You won't miss an instance on page 47.
Is the search case-sensitive?
Case-insensitive. 'John' matches 'JOHN', 'john', and 'John' across every page.
Can I redact multiple words at once?
Add as many terms as you need. Each one gets redacted from the entire document in one pass.
Can I redact by area or region instead of text?
Not currently. The tool matches by text content. Area-based redaction, blacking out a region of a page, is on our roadmap.
Do I need to sign up?
No account required. Guests get one redaction per day; free accounts get 10.
Is there a file size limit?
50 MB per file.
Is my file safe?
Your file is processed in memory and deleted the moment your download starts. Nothing is stored.
